The management of Federal Government Services Hospital (Polyclinic) apprised the meeting that hospital management is well alive with the situation by treating 350 pollen allergy victims during January and 150 during February 1-15.
Moreover, a separate arrangement for 10 indoor patients along with required equipment and medicine was also ensured to deal with the complicated cases in light of previous experience, the meeting was told.
Even the sub-health centre located in G-7/3-4 was fully equipped to cater the emergency requirements for surrounding area, the meeting was informed.
Adding further, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) administration told the core group that it had also arranged 20 nebulisers, which are available along with trained paramedics in emergency and medical ward-5 (pulmonary ward).
The meeting was informed that PIMS had also taken a leading roll in providing training to concerned staff and paramedics in handling such patients who often visit hospitals in miserable conditions.
The core group appreciated the workshop arranged by the PIMS on February 8 for enhancing awareness and education among community circles, teachers, students, media and medical professionals, which was termed as a proactive and interactive exercise in dealing with epidemics.
National Institute of Health apprised the meeting about the ongoing precautionary steps being taken for treatment of pollen allergy patients in collaboration with PIMS, Polyclinic, CDA and Ministry of Environment.
Expressing its satisfaction over the administrative and medical measures for treating emergency patients, core group urged upon CDA and KT administration to apprise the core group for its latest efforts on identifying and cutting of male paper Mullbury Trees and elimination of weeds like dandelion and other pollen trees.
It was decided that expertise of the met office and botany department in NIH and Quaid-e-Azam University would also be benefited in co-ordination with CDA and Ministry of Environment to solve the root causes of this medical emergency which is disturbing the citizens of Islamabad since long during spring season.
